Six checks to run on any converter
| Check | How to verify it |
|---|---|
| File handling | Read the privacy policy and inspect whether conversion sends a network request. |
| Multi-size ICO behavior | Use an ICO containing several sizes and note what the tool exports. |
| Transparency | Open the PNG over a contrasting background and inspect its alpha channel. |
| Limits | Check file size, number of files, registration, payment, and watermark rules. |
| Failure behavior | Try a valid but unusual ICO and see whether the tool explains the failure or silently uploads it. |
| Current evidence | Recheck product pages and policies because limits and data handling can change. |
Measured speed needs a fair test
Do not compare timing numbers unless every tool receives the same file, runs on the same device and network, and is measured repeatedly. Browser-side tools avoid upload time, but decoding time still varies with the file and device.
For a one-off conversion, successful output and correct transparency usually matter more than a small timing difference.
Privacy needs two separate answers
File privacy: Does the selected ICO or generated PNG leave the device?
Website analytics: Do hosting or analytics providers receive page-view, device, network, or interaction data? A tool can keep the file local while still using website analytics.
ico2png.com reference result
The current implementation processes one file locally, accepts up to 10 MB, selects the largest embedded image by pixel dimensions, and downloads one PNG. It does not upload failed files as a fallback.
The website uses third-party analytics. See the Privacy Policy for the current list of providers.
