An ICO file can contain several images at different sizes and color depths. Before choosing a converter, decide whether you need one PNG, every embedded image, batch processing, resizing, or editing.
- For one quick PNG, a browser-based tool can be convenient.
- For every embedded size, look for explicit multi-image export.
- For large batches or editing, desktop software may be more suitable.

What ico2png.com currently does
- Processes the selected ICO file in browser JavaScript.
- Accepts one ICO file at a time, up to 10 MB.
- Selects the embedded image with the largest pixel dimensions.
- Shows a PNG preview and download button.
- Requires no account and adds no watermark.
It does not claim to export every embedded image or support every valid ICO encoding. A file that cannot be decoded locally returns an error instead of being uploaded automatically.
A short evaluation checklist
- Test the tool with a non-sensitive copy of a real ICO file.
- Confirm which embedded size is exported.
- Check transparency on the downloaded PNG.
- Read the privacy policy and verify whether files are uploaded.
- Check current file-size, batch, watermark, and registration limits.
